ABOUT RECAPTCHA

In RECAPTCHA - a term in the digital world that stands for technological authentication, meaning the differentiation between humans and robots - CocoonDance continues its "search for the unthought body”. The works of the company can well be described under this guiding principle.

The Bonn ensemble took its inspiration from foreign forms and cultures of movement, non-academically trained bodies as well as, like in the case of RECAPTCHA, postmodern theories such as the “organ-less body”. To reach this promise and overcome the boundaries of the individual subject, to abolish the personality profile imposed by our society and put something new in its place, exerts a strong attractive power. The idea of the “organ-less body”, adopted by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari from Antonin Artaud, embodies the counter-model of a non-linear subject.

Martina De Dominicis and Rafaële Giovanola develop together a fragmented, decentered and borderless subject, that realizes itself as a hybrid being with polymorphic desires and flowing body boundaries in a free space of uncontrollable possibilities.
